Gas continuous flow hot water systems require water flow to keep them activated, if the water flow gets too low the appliance will turn off

This flow rate required will change depending on the cold water temperature

In winter the cold water temperature in Adelaide is between 10-15c

In summer the cold water temperature in Adelaide is between 25c and 30c

This calculation below shows minimum flow rates for winter and summer

Set temperature – Cold water Temperature = Temperature rise

Winter example

(set temp. 37c) – (Cold water temp 15c) = (temp. rise 22c)

You would need 3 LPM flow rate to keep electronic gas hot water system on

Summer example

(set temp. 37c) – (Cold water temp 30c) = (temp. rise 7c)

You would need 9 LPM flow rate to keep electronic gas hot water system on

 To rectify this problem you will need to allow more water flow through the shower head

1. This may mean removing any restriction in the shower rose or full replacement
2. Turning the hot tap on more
3. Checking that you have good dynamic water flow prior to hot water unit
