What rebates are available for hot water systems? If you replace an existing electric hot water heater with a solar or heat pump water heater, there are a few different types of rebates on offer.
Adelaide Heat Pump and Solar Hot Water Rebates: The highest rebates are available when replacing an existing conventional electric hot water system with a solar or heat pump system and there is no natural gas available.
STC Rebate up to $1150. Additional rebates Adelaide Council rebate up to $1500.

What Is an STC Worth?
The financial value of an STC is dependent on the supply of and demand for STCs. They are a commodity traded on the energy market like shares on the stock market.
As a result this value can be variable from day to day. Lately they have traded somewhere between $30 and $40 each, but please call us to confirm what your new system may be eligible for.
Do I Have to Deal With All This Paperwork?
No, SA Hot Water can handle the rebates on your behalf.
We can offer a point of sale discount off the supply and installation of the heat pump in return for you assigning your STCs to us.
We can also offer support for gaining any other eligible rebates that may be available.
How Many STCs Does a Heat Pump or Solar Hot Water System Have?
The number of STCs in each state may vary and are subject to change.

Adelaide City Council Hot Water Rebates
Eligible properties may apply for the following water heater upgrade rebates:
25% of installed cost up to a maximum of $1,000 for:
- Replacing electric instantaneous and storage systems with gas boosted solar systems.
- Replacing electric systems with heat pump boosted solar systems.
- Replacing electric systems with heat pump hot water systems.
- Adding solar thermal to existing electric instantaneous and storage systems.
- Adding solar thermal to existing gas storage or instantaneous systems.
- Installing a new solar or heat pump hot water system on a new development.
Who Is Eligible?

Please note, hot water systems that are part of the base building or common property of multi-storey office buildings are ineligible under the rebate described above.
